The design draws inspiration from the site's history as part of the Steel Works industrial relic. The rust-colored steel plates that construct the landscaping corridor serve as a symbolic bridge between the past and present, connecting the existing site with the Steel Plant Historical Park. The undulating woods cradle the stepped entrances of the corridor, recreating the raised and lowered industrial heritage and providing a unified visual experience.
What sets Plot 140 Poly Guanggang apart is its innovative use of vertical space. The project introduces a "vertical garden" connected by an elevated pedestrian corridor system. This ingenious design solution addresses the challenge of limited land resources in high-density urban communities, expanding the landscaping space for residents. The vertical garden also serves as a living testament to the site's distinct history.
The project was realized through the construction of a steel-framed pedestrian corridor elevated on the site. This design strategy effectively connects the whole site and all surrounding landscape resources, maximizing the landscaping space for residents. The landscape area of the site spans 21000 square meters, making it a significant green space within the urban community.
The project was designed in August 2016 and completed in April 2019. The design team at L and A Design, led by Design Director Hu Guangqiang, Project Manager & Designer Hu Naizhong, and supported by team members Li Bingfan, Yang Tianyou, and Li Qing, worked diligently to bring this vision to life. The team's commitment to creating an agreeable public green space that caters to the daily life of ordinary residents is evident in the project's success.
Plot 140 Poly Guanggang has been recognized for its innovative design and execution, winning the Silver A' Landscape Planning and Garden Design Award in 2021. This prestigious award is a testament to the project's outstanding expertise, innovation, and remarkable level of excellence. It is a shining example of how design can transform urban spaces, create community, and preserve history.
